What degree must be earned before applying for the State FFA Degree?

To be eligible to apply for the State FFA Degree, an individual must first earn the Chapter Degree. This foundational degree is a prerequisite and signifies that a member has demonstrated a commitment to FFA, agriculture, and the community at a local level.

The Chapter Degree indicates that an FFA member has participated actively in chapter activities, developed leadership skills, maintained a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program, and met the requirements established by their chapter. Achieving this degree not only prepares members for higher levels of involvement within the organization but also ensures they have the essential experience and knowledge necessary to take on state-level responsibilities and opportunities.

In contrast, while the Greenhand Degree is an initial degree meant for new members, and the American FFA Degree and Honorary Degree represent advanced recognition and achievements, they are not required before applying for the State FFA Degree.
